Q: "It seems to me that I don't have the budget to purchase everything I want. How I can get it for less?" A: You will always get what you pay for, but our advice will be to do it in stages. First take care of your fundamental needs, seek professional advice, get the right product, and then -- at a later date -- you can finish the decorating when you can. Again, create the theme, develop a plan and do one room at a time.

Q: "There are so many people who offer services, who should I deal with?" A: Look for a reputable company, a firm with solid track record in serving their community. Ask for references, take a trip to their showroom, see if they are helpful and know their products. Remember, if they don't do their best while trying to get you as a client, they are not going to be there when you need them.

Q: "What about warranties?" A: Most manufacturers offer a "limited lifetime warranty" with a lot of limits and some do offer better protection. Warranties do not include removing of the products and re-installing them. Make sure you purchase a good product. You might be investing a little more initially, but a lot less in the long run.

Q: "Why do prices differ so much from one dealer to another?" A: A very large part of it depends on the product. Take draperies for example -- you can have more fullness, better lining, better workmanship. To deliver that level of quality is more time consuming. Or you can end up with a skimpy finished product, without proper allowance for hems and heading, cheap lining, sewn as a rush job, installed with inferior hardware. It is just like a meal that you prepare, the more you put in to it the better the results.

Q: "What should I stay away from?" A: Unless you are prepared to change your décor every year, stay away from "trendy" -- in today gone tomorrow! Choose a colour that you like and can live with for many years, then add the 'trendy' by way of small accessories that you can change at will.

Q: "How do I know which brand to select?" A: You are not limited to one make. Usually the brand recommendation are arrived at once your full requirements are known. For instance, you could use a very inexpensive product for your unfinished basement, yet go for architectural type hardware if you have a 16' living room or hall ceilings and a very heavy drapery is going to be suspended from it.
